Helping people overcome the visual limitations
is the goal of Western Kansas Low Vision Foundation. Dr. Robert
Hoch is an optometrist who specializes in low vision care, evaluates
the degree of usable vision, and prescribes the most advanced
optical devices available. Prescriptions for glasses are also
available through this examination. Gloria Lefort is a low vision
technician who works with individuals to help them adapt to these
new devices. You can also make an appointment with Gloria for
personal instruction on optical devices before your examination
with the doctor.
Low vision appointments are made through Fry
Eye Associates. The examination with Dr. Hoch will take approximately
one hour followed by approximately one hour with Gloria working
with magnifiers and other low vision aids.
Western Kansas Low Vision Support Group is open
to any individual who has low vision. The meetings are informative,
often with guest speakers or with hands-on demonstrations of
devices. Many people feel better after coming to a low vision
meeting, just from the knowledge that they are "not alone" in
their low vision problems, and find much support and help from
others in the group.
