Working Toward Improved Vision

We have recently added a new piece of equipment, the Zeiss IOL Master. This technology recently became available in Germany, and our machine was one of the first delivered after FDA approval in this country. It measures the axial length of the eye using laser interferometry. The accuracy of this new method is about ten times better than the conventional ultrasound measurements. It is also more comfortable for our patients as they have only to look into the machine and a low power laser beam measures the eye. These measurements are entered into a computer program in order to calculate the power of intraocular lens implant to be placed in your eye after cataract surgery. The more accurate measurements should allow less correction on your glasses after cataract surgery and better vision without glasses.
